Bloody Good Content For Your Website

We don't do content. We do Bloody Good Content. Content that appeals to the search engine gods and content that turns visitors into customers. Want some?

Google is the most visited website on the planet.

People the world over use Google's search engine to find what they want. In the UK alone, Google handles 40,000 search queries every second. That adds up to a whopping 3.5 billion search queries a day.

Makes you wonder how anyone found anything before you could Google it.

But what this means is that every single day, Google gives businesses and organisations just like yours 3.5 billion opportunities to connect with a potential customer or client.

When someone searches Google for a product or service or for information, Google responds by providing page after page of search results in a bid to answer that search query.

Google does a pretty good job of providing users with the information they want. You will know yourself that you are most likely to find the answer to any search within the first few results returned by Google, and there is rarely any need to venture beyond the first page. You are far more likely to begin your search again with a better search query than wade through the results until you get to page 48 or even page four.

This is why it is vital for a business or an organisation to appear on the first page of search results for the goods and services they offer. Failure to do so results in lost customer after lost customer. And it won't just be potential custom you lose. Customers past and present will be led astray too.

Google gives you two opportunities to appear on the first page of search results.

  • You can pay to be there by spending money on Google Ads or Google Shopping. This is called Pay Per Click (PPC) and is a key component of Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

  • You can appear in the natural or organic search results. These are the results Google judges to be most likely to answer the search query and it doesn't charge you a penny to appear in them.
  • Money can't buy you this kind of love

Despite appearing below some of the paid ads, the organic search results remain a huge driver of traffic for websites. A 2019 study by Moz found 72% of people skip past any ads and click only on organic results, or on organic results the majority of the time.

The study also found that three-quarters of people either click on the first one or two results, scan page one looking for the most relevant answer to their query, or click on multiple results from page one.

So if you are on page one for those organic search results, and particularly if you are near the top of page one, Google is literally giving you the kind of advertising money can't buy.

But here's where it gets very interesting. Google doesn't rank websites, like many believe.

it doesn't rank your web pages either.

To offer its users the most relevant, useful results, Google ranks the content of your web pages.

So if you want to appear anywhere near the top of Google for competitive search terms, you better have what we call Bloody Good Content (BGC).

    It's your lucky day

Luckily for you, most websites aren't exactly overflowing with Bloody Good Content.

Most make do with Bloody Bad Content (BBC), the sort of content that isn't going to get you anywhere near the first page of search results.

Google's own Quality Guidelines call out the worst offenders when it comes to Bloody Bad Content, so look away now if you are easily offended:

  • Content that does not provide any additional value for web users - if your content is more of the same content served up elsewhere on the Web, it won't rank

  • Duplicate content taken from other sites (this includes an old favourite of lazy content providers - copying content from other sites and modifying it slightly)

  • Content that is not kept updated and relevant

  • Keyword stuffing - the practice of loading a webpage with keywords in an attempt to manipulate a site's ranking in Google search results (this includes blocks of text listing towns an cities a web page is trying to rank for)

  • Automatically generated content

  • Reproducing content feeds from other sites without providing some type of unique organisation or benefit to the user

  • Low-quality guest blog posts

  • The list goes on, but you get the picture. Google doesn't like Bloody Bad Content, and if a website contains any of the above, you've got a bloody good idea why it isn't performing as well as it might in the search results.

Who wants some Bloody Good Content?

We like to provide our clients with Bloody Good Content.

Our Bloody Good Content is bloody good for three reasons.

First, it's created just for you. It will be as unique as your business is.

Second, it is content created by SEO professionals who happen to also be bloody good at creating bloody good content. Content is only bloody good if it appears in relevant search results, so having someone who understands Search Engine Optimisation create your content is a bloody big bonus.

Third, it is content created by people who not only know SEO, but who get CRO too. CRO stands for Conversion Rate Optimisation. Our Bloody Good Content doesn't just appeal to the search engine gods, it turns visitors to your website into customers. I suppose that makes it Bloody Excellent Content, but we don't like to blow our own trumpet (maybe because we don't own a trumpet).
